Very hardy, good long shanks - genius

A popular large growing home garden leek that survives well in the garden through winter. Easy to grow and relatively pest and disease free. Leeks can be harvested from small right through to full size.

• How To Sow: Choose a well-drained site in full sun. Sow these seeds in trays for subsequent transplanting or, after frosts, sow directly in a well prepared seedbed. Sow seeds 1 cm apart, in groups 30 cm apart and to a depth of 1 cm.
• Seedling Care: Keep trays or seedbed evenly moist during the germination period of 14-21 days. Apply vegetable fertiliser two weeks after germination for healthier plants and maximum crop. • Hints and Tips: To produce extra-long white shanks when plants are 10 cm high, make a trench 10 cm deep. Plant leeks into the bottom of the trench and cover with soil.
